A New Endochronic Approach to Computational Elastoplasticity: Example of a Cyclically Loaded Cracked Plate

چکیده

In this paper, a methodology for finite-element elastoplastic analyses of structures subjected to cyclic loading, based on a new form of endochronic {internal time) plasticity theory, is presented. In the present version of the endochronic theory, the rate forms of the stress/strain relations (stated here explicitly for plane stress, plane strain, and three-dimensional cases) are entirely analogous to those of the classical (isotropic or kinematic hardening) plasticity theory and, thus, are no more difficult or expensive to implement in computational algorithms. The problem of a doubleedge-cracked panel, subjected to monotonic loading as well as to zero-to-tension or tension-compression cyclic external loading, is analyzed. The elastoplastic stress/strain fields at the root of the notch, for each of these loading conditions, are studied in detail. These results are compared and contrasted with those presented recently by Valanis and Fan, and the noted discrepancies are discussed. This paper is limited to considerations of small strains and small displacements only.

Failure analysis of a cracked plate based on endochronic plastic theory coupled with damage

An anisotropic model of damage mechanics for ductile fracture incorporating the endochronic theory of plasticity is presented in order to take into account material deterioration during plastic deformation. An alternative form of endochronic (internal time) theory which is actually an elasto-plastic damage theory with isotropicnonlinear kinematic hardening is developed for ease of numerical com...

A study on effect of crack on free vibration of thick rectangular plate with initial geometric imperfection using differential quadrature method

In this study, vibration of initially imperfect cracked thick plate has been investigated using the differential quadrature method. The crack modeled as an open crack using a no-mass linear spring. The governing equations of vibration of a cracked plate are derived using the Mindlin theory and considering the effect of initial imperfection in Von-Karman equations. Differential equations are dis...

Attractor Based Analysis of Centrally Cracked Plate Subjected to Chaotic Excitation

The presence of part-through cracks with limited length is one of the prevalent defects in the plate structures. Due to the slight effect of this type of damages on the frequency response of the plates, conventional vibration-based damage assessment could be a challenging task. In this study for the first time, a recently developed state-space method which is based on the chaotic excitation is ...

A numerical and experimental study on buckling and post-buckling of cracked plates under axial compression load

Existence of cracks in industrial structures is one of the important causes of their failure, especially when they are subjected to important axial compressive forces that might lead to buckling. Therefore, it must be considered in stress analysis and designing and loading of such structures. In this paper, the buckling and post-buckling behaviors of stainless-steel cracked plates under axial c...

A Simple Finite Element Procedure for Free Vibration and Buckling Analysis of Cracked Beam-Like Structures

In this study, a novel and very simple finite element procedure is presented for free vibration and buckling analysis of slim beam-like structures damaged by edge cracks. A cracked region of a beam is modeled using a very short element with reduced second moment of area (I). For computing reduced I in a cracked region, the elementary theory of bending of beams and local flexibility approach are...
